This is a good opportunity to see the architecture in the French Colonies in its original state. It remains one of the landmarks of Bangui, and is very popular with the devote population. It is remarkable that this place is actually one of the best preserved and maintained buildings of two years of decline and civil strife. Go and visit because nowadays you may only see the architecture in very remote parts of Africa.
It is extremely sad to see how this museum in honor of Barthélemy Boganda, who was the leading nationalist politician and who helped the country to Independence is left nearly abandoned. He served as the first Prime Minister of the Central African Republic and was killed during an mid air plane explosion, prior to his nomination as president. His legacy is remembered in a national day, unfortunately the museum was looted in 2012. Still encouraging to see that there are some museum keepers who will try to help you.Show More
