I'm not sure why anyone reviewing has said that this isn't an essential site for anyone wanting to see Mayan ruins! I loved this site because it was tranquil, quiet, and didn't feel overly touristy. In fact in some areas I was totally alone and felt like I was an explorer setting my eyes on these beautiful ruins for the first time! There are a decent number of signs to explain the ruins, in Spanish and English, but a guide might help if you want a more in depth learning experience. The sculpture museum which is on site as well, is a must if you want to learn everything about Mayan history and the hieroglyphics! You could spend days exploring here if you're a big history buff but one full day would suffice for most visitors with a casual interest! Definitely don't miss these ruins! Another bonus are the wild macaws everywhere that make for great photo ops!
